The Creation of A Spanish Cityscape

This week I started my newest painting featuring Toledo, Spain. I visited there in 2012 and was moved by its hilltop setting, its distinct architecture, and the fact that Toledo was the adopted home town of El Greco, one of my favorite painters. Unlike cloudscapes, cityscape paintings require a bit more thought and planning before adding color as evidenced in the photo and time lapse below.

The End of An Era, The Start of a New

Moving. What can I say?

Beyond the physical and mental challenge of moving, my studio relocation from 6th Street to the new one at Hill Street was surprisingly emotional. So much history, so much change in my style and approach, so much new art conceived and made there. It affected me deeply. As I begin to establish the new workspace on Hill Street, I wanted to take a moment to pay tribute to the one I've called my artistic home the past 6 years.

Inside The Artist Studio: David Kenneth Gordon

Meet David Gordon (www.davidkgordonart.com).

David's studio is on Riverside Drive in the Upper West Side. We met at the International School of Art in Umbria, Italy during the summer of 2001 and have kept in touch ever since. Classically trained, David is still investigating and pushing the envelope of the tools (and now technologies) available to artists today.

Some day I want a display wall like this one!
Getting to learn more about his iterative printing/drawing/painting process.
In his element! A great studio space.
A studio visit and lunch with David Gordon is a must anytime I'm in NYC!
